7 months ago admin Laravel

In this tutorial, we will see how to create a shopping cart using Laravel, I assume that you have already created a Laravel project, the user can add products to the cart update the quantity, and remove products from the cart.

Install the package

First, we need to install the package we will use so run the command below:

composer require "darryldecode/cart

Create the Model & the Migration

Next, create a new model 'Product' with the migration that will create the products table.

<?php

use Illuminate\Database\Migrations\Migration;
use Illuminate\Database\Schema\Blueprint;
use Illuminate\Support\Facades\Schema;

return new class extends Migration
{
    /**
     * Run the migrations.
     */
    public function up(): void
    {
        Schema::create('products', function (Blueprint $table) {
            $table->id();
            $table->string('product_name');
            $table->longtext('product_description');
            $table->integer('product_price');
            $table->string('product_image');
            $table->timestamps();
        });
    }

    /**
     * Reverse the migrations.
     */
    public function down(): void
    {
        Schema::dropIfExists('products');
    }
};

Create the controller

Next, create a new controller 'ProductController' inside we have only one function that returns all the products.

<?php

namespace App\Http\Controllers;

use App\Models\Product;
use Illuminate\Http\Request;

class ProductController extends Controller
{
    //
    public function index()
    {
        $products = Product::all();
        return view('welcome')->with([
            'products' => $products
        ]);
    }
}
